PVC coated polyester material, rubber-lined carbon steel, and polyethylene material are used for storage.
This aqueous solution is corrosive to steel. It is advisable to store it in tanks made of polyethylene or of materials protected by a coating, resistant to chlorides. Avoid neutralization with a base as this would result in the release of dimethylamine, which is an extremely flammable, foul-smelling gas.
The product is used as a building block in pharmaceuticals for the treatment of diabetes type II, stomach ulcers, analgetics… Other fields of application are in agrochemical synthesis and formulation of solder fluxes. DMA.HCl is available as an aqueous solution in a concentration up to 70 %.
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapors, mist, or gas. Avoid from direct contact with skin and eye. Use goggle type safety glasses. Contact lenses may pose a special hazard; soft contact lenses may absorb and concentrate irritants. Do not use contact lenses. The product causes skin and eye irritation.
